The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays. A normal ticket costs €15 in 2026, and several groups pay half. The Lisboa Card includes the museum.

The museum and its buildings
Two places that are easy to confuse.
The museum on Avenida da Índia
This is the current museum and the one these hours and prices belong to. It has been in the new building since 2015.
The older riding hall
The older home of the collection is the Picadeiro Real, a separate building. Objects were moved in 2025 in connection with works. Do not assume you can visit the old building at the same time. Check current visitor information before you plan around it.
The collection
The collection consists of historic court and travel vehicles. It goes back to the founding of the museum by Queen D. Amélia in 1905.
Getting there, access and parking
Practical points.
Tram 15E stops at Belém (Museu Coches), and so does bus 714. Check the current timetable before you go. The getting-there page covers the other routes.
The museum has ramps, lifts and adapted toilets. It has its own visitor car park on Avenida da Índia, including 4 spaces for people with special needs. Ask at the museum or check on site what parking costs.
